Have you ever gone on a trip with someone who had different sleeping, eating, and pool/tanning habits than you, making the trip less enjoyable than it should have been? And you said to yourself, “If only I could go on vacation with myself.”
Well, last week I got to do just that. I went on vacation with myself, except that it wasn’t really me, just someone who looks just like me, likes to hang out at the pool and read magazines, needs coffee at the right times of the day, goes to bed early and gets up early, keeps the hotel room at the right temperature, doesn’t take too long in the shower, laughs at my jokes, likes to take naps, doesn’t talk excessively, and doesn’t get frustrated with me when I have clearly given her the wrong directions, .
Yes, I got to go on a quick vacation to Nashville with my twin sister, Beth. It’s like going on vacation with myself, only better, because she helps me make decisions (which I am terrible at by myself). And she doesn’t mind driving all over town (I like to be chauffeured), even when I act like I can read iPhone directions (but really can’t).
The mini-vacation with
myself Beth was delightful. Every minute was peaceful and relaxing and rejuvenating, (even when we had made a wrong turn, again).
Thanks, Beth, for being you, for loving me unconditionally, and for being a great vacation partner! I guess we can let our husbands go with us next time 🙂
Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers (sisters) dwell in unity! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore. — Psalm 133:1, 3
